Masks and Poetry

We are well into our mask making now in Drama 4. This VERY complicated process will take us all the way to break. The students have really been enjoying it though and I think the results are going to be amazing. Take a look at some of our works in progress.
Some students who STILL have zeros on their senior profiles need to get those to me. The last day to turn them in is Friday.
In Drama 2 we are digging into our poetry. This week we will be working on Standard American dialect and acting happening at the same time. We will also keep the ball rolling with our children's theater scenes. We will be presenting these to Sky View elementary students the second week after break.

2 WEEKS AND COUNTING
Another College Accept shout out to John Slack who was accepted to The University of Michigan.
With only two weeks left in the semester, we are busy busy busy around the Brook. Please check the CCCEPA website for tons of upcoming holiday events and concerts.
The Drama 1, 2, 3 projects have been postponed until January 27.
Drama 4
We are working on mask construction and performance. We are currently in the construction phase. Students have been making plaster casts of their faces which will serve as the base for their masks. Today we will begin on the construction and paper maiche portion.
Students make masks of thier own for two reasons. The first is to learn a very useful theatre skill that many will find themselves using again. The second is to have the students have an investment in their mask. By creating their own mask, they are bringing it to life in a sense which, in the end, makes the performance work better.
Drama 2
We have many things happening this week. The first rounds of the story theater are today. (These are off book and graded.) The first rounds of the poetry will be on Thursday. (Also off book and graded.) The story book theater pieces will be performed after the break at a local elementary school. Students should continue working on their list of diction words for their final exam.
