Three Sisters and Spooktacular

In all of our classes we are in the thick of one our favorite activities in the Brook Drama Dept-Spooktacular. It is a piece of spooky theatre entirely created, teched and performed by the students. It is a festival of frights, haunts and theatrically created tension. The students love to create and watch them. These will be performed this Friday.

On a second note we have also been working on Three Sisters callbacks this week. The kids are doing great. They are making our decisions very difficult.

Friday October 23

On Monday we had a great turnout for Three Sisters auditions. Callbacks will be posted on Monday and we will work on those in class throughout the week.

Drama 4 has been working on prep for our college monologues. A shout out to AJ, Kelley, Alyssa, Jennifer and John who headed off to Texas and Oklahoma this weekend to kick off the college audition season. I am sure they will represent us well.
Another shout out to Nike who is nominated for an Ovation award and will be performing at the Strand on Monday as a part of the awards ceremony.
We worked with the Leban efforts and are now off book on our classical monologues.

Drama 2
Our soaps has encountered technical difficulties so we are allowing students to choose their path in the next week. Some have chosen to continue editing their soap scenes. Others are moving on to a one week scene slam challenge.

The Three Sisters and other massive undertakings

Auditions for The Three Sisters are this coming Monday. All of the materials you will need are right here on the blog under the documents desk. If you plan to audition you need to fill out an audition application turn it in to Ms Grant by Friday.

This week in Drama four we will be getting ready for the first batch of college auditions and learning about three sisters. We will be getting criticism and hopefully improving our contemporary pieces.

In Drama 2 we are going to finish filming and then move onto the editing portion of our soap.

Monologues and Soaps

This has been another busy week at the Brook. It is Homecoming week so our lives have been especially exciting. A special shout out to the Tech kids who put up a show stopping door for the homecoming door wars.

Drama 2
They began filming their scenes on Wednesday. This will take until about Wednesday of next week and then we will begin on the editing portion of our work. It won't be too much longer before we are able to release The Brook Season One (straight to DVD of course). The students are realizing how slow and detailed film work can be. It is also wonderful to see how excited they are about the work.

Drama 4
With Raisin in the bag and our college monologues finalized at long last, it is full steam ahead with monologue preparation. The students did round one of their contemporary pieces this morning and it was not our best work. My plan was to continue onto our classical pieces next week, but after seeing the pieces today, I think that they are going to need a bit more time. I will coach contemporary pieces at the beginning of next week before I move onto classical. It is slow going, but our attention to detail will be well worth it when our students perform well at college and GHP auditions.
